R1VER Office Tower

Project Overview

The R1VER project was a multi-phase design-build construction project located on the Kinnickinnic River on the south-side of Milwaukee. Mared Mechanical was awarded the HVAC contract for the initial phase of the project – a two-story parking structure and eight-story class A office tower.

We were tasked with designing and installing the main HVAC system for the office tower, as well as designing/installing an exhaust system for the parking garage. Our engineering department was utilized to come up with an efficient system solution that made use of hot water and chilled water systems, as these were desired by the owner. We were also required to use BIM software to model and coordinate all elements of the project.

We utilized the full force of our sheet metal and pipe fitting divisions as well as our engineering department to take on such a large project. Mared spearheaded the 3D coordination efforts to ensure that all MEP elements fit together cohesively and weren’t in conflict when it came time to install them in the field. Pipe and duct risers were installed in the mechanical shafts of the buildings, with stubs out onto every floor to better facilitate future tenant buildouts.
